Privacy Policy
Effective Date: April 2026
Live Church Solutions dba ChurchApps ("we," "us," or "our") operates the B1.church, Lessons.church, and FreePlay.church apps and services ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information obtained through the App. By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy.
1. Data Collection and Use
We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. The App collects the following information from users on behalf of their church:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number (optional)
- Mailing address (optional)
- Profile photo (optional)
- Other information users provide voluntarily (e.g., through forms, inquiries, or event registrations)
The App also stores the following data as part of church operations:
- Donation records (dates, amounts, and fund allocations — credit card and bank details are never stored by ChurchApps and are processed entirely by Stripe)
- Attendance records
- Group memberships
- Communication records (messages, notification preferences, device tokens for push notifications)
- Volunteer assignments and serving schedules
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and improve our services
- Respond to user inquiries or support requests
- Provide a church-level member directory service
- Facilitate user account creation or verification
- Process donations on behalf of churches (via Stripe)
- Send communications on behalf of churches (email, push notifications, SMS)
2. Data Processing Roles
When a church uses ChurchApps, the church is the Data Controller — it decides what data to collect and how to use it. ChurchApps is the Data Processor — we process data solely on the church's behalf to provide our services. We do not use church member data for our own purposes.
3. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:
- Amazon Web Services (AWS) — Infrastructure hosting, data storage, and content delivery. Data is stored in the United States (us-east-2 region). Covered by the AWS Data Processing Addendum.
- Stripe — Payment processing for donations. Credit card and bank information is handled entirely by Stripe and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
We do not sell or share your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Your Data Rights
All users can manage their data through the App:
- View and edit your profile information through the member portal
- Control your visibility in the church directory through privacy settings
- Manage your notification and communication preferences
If you are in the UK or European Union, you also have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):
- Right of Access (Article 15) — Download all of your personal data using the "Download My Data" button on your Account page. This exports your data from all modules in a structured JSON format.
- Right to Erasure (Article 17) — Delete your account using the "Delete My Account" button on your Account page. This removes or anonymizes your personal information across all modules. Church administrators can also anonymize or delete a person's data from the admin panel.
- Right to Restriction (Article 18) — Restrict how your data is processed, including opting out of all communications.
- Right to Data Portability (Article 20) — The data export provides your information in a machine-readable JSON format that can be transferred to another service.
- Right to Rectification (Article 16) — Update your personal information through the member portal.
To exercise any of these rights, use the self-service features in the member portal, contact your church administrator, or email us at support@churchapps.org.
5. International Data Transfers
ChurchApps data is hosted on Amazon Web Services in the United States. For individuals in the UK or European Union, international data transfers are covered by Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) under the AWS Data Processing Addendum. EU-based hosting is not required when appropriate transfer mechanisms like SCCs are in place.
6. Data Retention and Deletion
Data is stored at a church level and is retained until deleted by a church administrator or the individual member.
When a person's data is anonymized or deleted:
- Personal information (name, email, phone, address, photo) is permanently removed
- Donation amounts, dates, and fund allocations are preserved without personal identifiers for the church's financial records
- Attendance dates are preserved without personal identifiers for aggregate reporting
- User authentication records are permanently deleted
- Photos are permanently deleted from storage
7. Security
We implement reasonable measures to protect the App from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure, including:
- All data encrypted in transit using HTTPS
- Database servers stored behind a firewall, inaccessible from the internet
- Passwords stored using one-way hashing — we cannot retrieve them
- Credit card and bank data never stored on our servers
- Data segregated across independent databases by module (membership, giving, attendance, messaging, serving, content), limiting the impact of any potential breach
- Production server access limited to two board members
However, please be aware that no security measures are foolproof.
8. Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect data directly from children. Children's data entered into the system (such as attendance or group membership) is managed by church administrators and parents.
9. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify churches of significant changes by posting a notice on our platform. We encourage you to review this page periodically for any changes. The effective date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last revised.
